My older sister was involved in an accident with this 17 year old texting behind the wheel of his Chevy Truck.

My sister is not only ok, but she didn’t know she was in an accident at first haha. She thought she felt something and looked back as the kid finished reversing a bit and noted his shit was R3KT, yo!

That Fiat vs. Volvo video is probably a little unfair, you want the front to crumple, but given that you can have a rear facing third-row in the Volvo, they can’t afford much give there. Still funny though.

In any event, glad your sister is ok, and her Moose isn’t too much worse for wear.

Faired far better than my 91 Civic when it met a texting teen.

I was lucky that the passenger side rear glass was open or it would have shattered.

This is the worst bit. This is the passenger door “panel gap”. When your panel gap becomes panel overlap, you know your car is boned.

Moral of the story is DONT TEXT AND DRIVE

I once rear ended a late 90's Mitsubishi Mirage in my E36 M3. I cracked one of the kidney grills and dented the trim around it.... the Mirage was absolutely destroyed. The entire trunk structure was collapsed. It was a total loss.

I was telling Tapas that I cone rear ended a 90's Mitsubishi Mirage, collapsing the entire trunk frame and totaling the car out. My E36 M3 at the time only broke a single kidney grille and dented the trim around it. We can see how safety standards have changed in 10 years time.

Indeed. Passed the emergency swerve/ M oose test easily as well with its awesome DSTC control system. Seeing the early rollover testing on Youtube was a trip also. The damn thing bounced around slamming on its roof like 4 times and the structure held perfect.
